This past Friday and Saturday Josh and I had two very fun dates. Josh would say it was "the best thing I've done in a long time." He would also probably put our dates on his top ten fun things he's done in life. For those of you that don't know what the WCHA is, I think it stands for the Western Conference Hockey Association, or something very similar. What it is, is a hockey tournament for the best of the best of college hockey in our region. Those of you living out of Minnesota may think that Minnesota is the Land of 10,000 lakes, but really most Minnesotans might tell you it's the land of Hockey! Josh is no exception to the rule. He's a homegrown boy, therefore, we watch hockey almost nightly. It was huge when we got two tickets to Friday's semifinal game and to Saturday's Championship game. Both games were held at the Excel in St. Paul.
Friday was a great game, we had a nice win against Wisconsin. We dominated, but they were definitely a solid and great team. We were then excited to watch Minnesota against the fighting Sioux (U North Dakota) on Saturday. We knew this was going to be a great game. UND has the best line in college hockey right now and we knew they were going to give us a run for our money. This game was huge. The first period went scoreless. It was a scrappy and physical game. Early in the 2nd period we scored our first goal. We didn't stay confident for very long because towards the end of the 2nd period they scored their first goal. By the end of the 2nd period though we were up 2-1. They came back and scored again to make it a tie in the 3rd. We then went into overtime. Josh and I might say we bring luck to any Minnesota team that goes into overtime. I think we've been at 2 Wild games and a Timberwolves game this year, that all went into overtime and we pulled out the W each time. At any rate almost 3 minutes into overtime Blake Wheeler, for the Minnesota Gophers, dove and made one of the best goals of all time. The arena erupted and it was a lot of fun to be there. The goal even made the #2 spot on ESPN's top ten that night. The UND fans were left speechless....it was that beautiful. I'm going to try to attach a link right here so you can see the goal yourself. If it doesn't work to click on it, copy and paste it, it's definitely worth your time to watch it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuepVP-NBrs We were there :)
