The first thing our realtor said when he walked up to the house we had picked for him to show us (the house we now call ours) was, "this is the worst roof I have ever seen." We kind of smiled and said, "thank-you...we know." In all reality I'd like to see if someone could beat our roof because we weren't lying....our roof really was the worst most people had ever seen. This weekend was finally the time that we took action to remedy the worst roof problem. We called some great work hands to help us and got down to business. Thursday Josh and I fixed some rotting soffits and fascia boards and removed our gutters, then Friday the fun began. Josh and I started early in the morning ripping off the roof and making it "clean." Micheal then joined us for most of the day, and in his words, "gave us his whole heart and soul" for a full day of roofing. David also joined us for a couple hours Friday and Saturday. We could have done it without all of the help we received. Thank-you to Greg Shackle, Aaron Kusch, Paul Goodwin, Michael, David, Lauren, Elizabeth, my mom, and my dad for all making the wonderful weekend a lot easier on us. We appreciated everyone's help and support a lot! Thank Erin also for coming and helping me make lunch for all of the crew on Saturday. Here are some pictures to highlight the beginning stages and the help along the way. Also, thanks to Kelltie, Eliza, Erin, and Sheilia for giving up your husbands for a large part of a beautiful Saturday.
Soffits and Fascia that we replaced.
The beginning roof.
Ripping the roof off.
Cleaning the roof off, taking off nails.
Laying the ice and water and the felt paper.
Our wonderful help, David, Paul, and Aaron.
Josh and Greg hard at work.
My mom, busy being the ground crew and cleaning up all of the ripped off shingles and bringing them to the dumpster.
My wonderful husband.
The happy homeowners after a long, hard two days of roofing. We're not completely done, but we're close, and we're very, very happy.

Hey Linds! I've been checking in on your blog every once and awhile and you guys are doing amazing things with that house! I am so impressed!
I'm so impressed that you re-roofed your own house. I had to call in my brother to fix a toilet.
