This video has nothing to do with this post. I don't have any recent pictures of Ella so I thought I would attach it. This was taken 6 months ago right before or after Thanksgiving. It's crazy how quickly they grow up!
Now, on to the real reason for the post:
Ella is at a stage where she is picking up on figures of speech that maybe don't make as much sense as one would like. She takes them literally, asks questions, and a long description of what was really meant ensues. A couple of examples:
2 days ago: We went for a long walk, ended up at the park and played 'til our hearts content. Unfortunately I hadn't planned being gone so long and had not taken Ella to the bathroom before we left. After much fun she told me she had to "go". We didn't make it.
She then looks to me and asks, "mom, are you mad?"
Me: "oh no Ella! Accidents happen, it's not a big deal. We'll just go home and throw you in the bath."
Ella: "Well mom, don't throw me. Maybe just put me in gently."
Me: "Oh, you're right. Good idea Ella."
Yesterday: We were in the car and had listened to the ABC song by the Jackson 5. There's a lyric that says, "shake it, shake it, baby!"
After the song Ella asks: "Mom, was the baby in some one's belly or were they holding it?"
Me: "What? What baby Ella? I don't know what you're talking about?"
Ella: "In the song mom. Was the baby they were shaking in some one's belly or were they holding it and shaking it?"
Oh brother.....what a gruesome thought!
Today: She was putzing and not getting into her bed. I told her, "Ella, come on. It's time to hop into bed."
Without hesitation she ran over, crouched and gave her best hop, into her bed.
I love her, love her, love her!
